Climate Action

Establish concrete actions for climate resiliency and reduce carbon emissions
  • Support meeting Council’s 2019 adoption of community-wide carbon pollution targets (based on the United Nations’ IPCC guidance) to cut the City’s carbon pollution to 80% below the 2007 levels by 2040, and 100% reduction or net zero carbon pollution by 2050.
  • Support the implementation of the City’s Draft Climate and Environment Strategy which outlines goals and concrete actions to reduce the City’s carbon pollution to net zero
Why is this important?

We are experiencing changes in our climate more and more each year, with hotter summers, reduced air quality due to wildfires, and excessive rainfall and flooding. To remain a community resilient to these changes, and to ensure long term sustainability, we need to take action to limit climate change impacts before they are no longer reversible.
